Project Description

This project was constructed to provide improved traffic safety and mobility by replacing the at-grade crossing over the existing railroad tracks at SE Lawnfield Rd. with a new overcrossing and a fully reconstructed Tolbert Street starting at SE 82nd Drive and extending to SE Minuteman Way.

The structures that were constructed to span over the existing tracks consisted of MSE/Wire Walls for the approaches and the center landings, two single-span precast slab bridges over existing roads and a single-span steel girder bridge to span over the existing UPRR main tracks. All three bridges were founded on prebored steel piles and had cast-in-place deck, sidewalks, parapet concrete railing with ornamental protective screening. The project also included new storm system including water quality and storm detention facilities, soldier pile and cast-in-place retaining walls, sidewalks, traffic signal and street lighting, paving, striping and landscaping.
